FIFA 12 SHOOTING AND SCORING TIPS

Shooting and scoring in FIFA 12 requires more skill than previous FIFA versions. Most people remember the ‘easy scoring’ finesse shot or the fancy but easy lobs. Well, to be succesful this year you have to think more, and know in which situation you have to perform a specific shot in FIFA 12. Below you can find all the details about shooting in general including FIFA 12 scoring tips to increase your scoring percentage.

FIFA 12 GENERAL SHOOTING

As you may know there are several ways to perform a shot in FIFA 12. You can divide them in 4 groups: the ‘normal shot’, the ‘finesse shot, ‘fancy shots’ and ofcourse the lob / chip shots. Just to make these FIFA 12 shooting tips complete we’ve made definitions about these shots. All controls are based on the ‘standard settings’. NORMAL SHOT
Most effective way to score in FIFA 12. To perform a normal shot, just press the shoot button (X360: B, PS3: CIRCLE). Timing and power is important. Practice shooting in the arena with practice match (f.e. 5 vs 1) from different ranges and angles and learn how to shoot in the far and short corner of the goal. After a while you don’t have focus anymore on the powerbar, and your choice of power becomes a ‘second nature’.

FINESSE SHOT
Less effective shot in FIFA 12 than previous years. However, from certain angles (around 18yards box from the side), they are still perfect and very effective because they have more curve and are more precise. To perform this hold RB (X360) / R1 (PS3) and press the shoot button with the right power.

FANCY SHOTS
If your player got the ‘flair’ trait you can score great goals like a bycicle kick, scorpion kick and diving headers. To perform these fancy shots in FIFA 12, just hold LT (X360) / L2 (PS3) and press the shoot button. It doesn’t mean your player performance always a fancy shot, this requires a specific position of your player and the ball. THE LOB / CHIP SHOT
Nice way to score and humiliate the opponent but has a lot of ‘error chance’. You can lob the keeper when he’s too far from his goal line. To perform this lob shot in FIFA 12, hold LB (X360) / L1 (PS3) and press shoot button. INCREASE YOUR FIFA 12 SCORING PERCENTAGE

Now we know what shots we can perform in FIFA 12, you’ll need to know when perform a specific shot to increase your scoring percentage. Below we described different and common situations with scoring chances. Here you can find scoring tips so you’ll know which shot to perform in which situation to become a pro in finishing. All situations are with a right-footed player. Logically it’s for left footed players vice versa.

Be aware that these scoring tips doesn’t mean there aren’t other possibilities to score. However, if you these FIFA 12 scoring tips help to increase your scoring percentage.

RIGHT SIDE 18 YARDS BOX
On the right side around the 18 yards box it’s quite easy to score. Always aim/shoot in the nearest/right corner and use only the normal shot, medium power. Stop with sprinting by releasing RT (X360) / R2 (PS3).

LEFT SIDE 18 YARDS BOX

Use a finesse shot, medium power is enough to beat the goalkeeper. Stop with sprinting (release RT / R2). Aim towards the far corner (right corner).

DISTANCE SHOTS

Nice distance shots are still possible in FIFA 12. Ofcourse you will have most success with players like van Persie, Lampard, Gerard, Ibrahimovic, Sneijder, Villa, etc. All these players have shot power and good accuracy. Use the normal shot method and use around 50% of your powerbar. It’s possible to shoot with sprinting (more power) but it’s less accurate. TIP: release any button and right or left stick after powering up. Somehow the shot will be almost always on goal and impossible for the goalkeeper to save.

ONE-ON-ONE SITUATIONS

One on one situations in FIFA 12 are less easy than previous FIFA versions. A simple finesse shot doesn’t work always. There is one important thing you have to prevent: make sure you aren’t to close at the goalkeeper before you take a shot. We will describe two situations and how to score in that situation.

Situation 1: Goalkeeper stays on the goalline.
This is the most easy way to score. Just shoot like described in ‘left/right side 18 yards box’. You can but you don’t have to use finesse shot, normal shot in the right corner is enough. (Assuming your player is right footed).

Situation 2: Goalkeeper is rushing out
You could use a lob / chip shot or even a rabona shot, it’s quite hard though and has more error chance. A goalkeeper who’s rushing out to the ball is very easy to beat though. Just use the right stick for a ‘first touch’ before he can jump towards the ball. Maybe 95% percent of these changes will be a succes.
