Head to Head Seasons

Untill now, earlier FIFA games offered ranked quick matches, where skill points are awarded and users are ranked on a leaderboard. This year we have Head-to-head Seasons that focuses on you, your season, and your division. There are 10 divisions to progress through, with 10 games per season to try to get promoted to a higher division. Points are just like in real ‘football-life’: 3 points for a win, and 1 for a draw. Maybe it’s easy to make it to division 9 but it becomes much more difficult to reach the higher divisions. Eventually, when you reach Division 1 you can win the League Title. There are different cups, starting with the ‘EA Shield’ when you play in a lower divisions, and the ‘Premier Cup’ for the best players in divisions 1 and 2. There will be a pop-up window every few weeks to determine who will win the cup in a knock-out tournament. The commentators will discuss your recent results in the season and tournaments.

Changes Matchmaking

Traditionally,  you and your opponent had to choose the team and after that you had adjust your line-up and tactics before the match starts.Everyone knows that the most people choose fot the ‘5-star’ teams like “Only-crosses-Chelsea’ or “Ronaldo Madrid”. In FIFA 12 you  have to pick your team, kit and the formation before searching.  Based on your division, skill, location, controls, DNF % (at last, less quitters!), there will be a matchmaking. So no more waiting for the changes in formation.

Unranked Matches against friends

Also new is the unranked matches against friends. Every game versus a friend becomes a season, just like in ranked matches. After 10 matches the goal is to have more points than your friend. If you’re tied after 10 matches, goal difference decides who’s the winner. After a season, your next match automatically starts Season 2, so you can get started defending or retaining the trophy. You can see the status of all seasons in the Hub and leaderboards.

The bands line up consist four members: Richard ‘Rocket’ Emerson, Rob Clements, David ‘Baby Dave’ Page and Chris ‘Mini Rocket’ Connoll. The exact release date of the FIFA 12 demo isn’t confirmed yet but it will be in the first weeks of September according to some reliable sources. Last year it was possible to download the demo from September 15. We’ll let you know when we have more details. The demo release date is September 13, 2011 (tuesday).
